The brawl occurred around 3:30 a.m. on 11/7 at a Thai hot pot and barbecue restaurant located on Soi Phettrakul Road in Moo 6, Naklua. In a video shared on social media, the group of South Korean tourists lost their composure, throwing ceramic plates and glasses at each other. Despite attempts by others to intervene, the young men continued fighting.
After receiving a report, Captain Pansarn Khlongsit of the Pattaya Police Station arrived at the scene. Four South Korean tourists involved in the incident were detained.
According to police, the four individuals were friends traveling together in Thailand. During their late-night meal, an argument broke out among them, leading to the fight.
Restaurant staff told the media that the incident caused other patrons to flee for fear of being hit by flying plates and glasses.
Numerous plates, glasses, cups, and decorative items were damaged. The restaurant owner demanded 100,000 baht (over 80 million VND) in compensation.
The four South Koreans have agreed to compensate the restaurant owner. The police are continuing to detain them for questioning. They may face administrative fines before being released.
The incident has sparked outrage on social media. Many have criticized the tourists for their disrespectful behavior, with some commenting that Thai law is not strict enough in dealing with public disturbances.
