A male tourist, identified as Changjiang, slipped and fell more than 40 meters from a cliff edge in China's Sichuan province while attempting to take a selfie. The incident, captured on video, occurred at 13h30 on 5/12 near the "Gateway" area of the Huaying mountain range in Guang'an city. Despite the dramatic fall, Changjiang sustained only minor injuries and is in stable condition, later confirming his survival on social media.
The widely circulated video shows Changjiang, an experienced hiker and trip organizer, carefully navigating the cliff's edge, phone in hand. He positioned himself for a selfie, but seconds later, the rock beneath him crumbled, causing him to lose balance and plunge downwards amidst the panicked shouts of his fellow hikers. His group, consisting of 21 people, many of whom were first-time mountaineers, rushed to the edge. Reports indicate Changjiang fell approximately 15 meters before his descent was fortunately broken by tree branches. He had reportedly been attempting to move ahead to warn the excited group about safety when the rock gave way.

The Huaying mountain range, a popular trekking destination in southwest China's Sichuan province, is known for its distinctive limestone terrain, steep cliffs, deep ravines, and primary forests. While beloved by the hiking community for its self-developed trails, the area poses inherent dangers, particularly for those who do not adhere to safety regulations.
