New York City Police Department (NYPD) officials reported a gang-related shooting occurred at 13:20 on 1/4 near Humboldt & Moore Street in Brooklyn. Gunmen on motorcycles approached a group of people, opened fire, and then fled the scene.
A stray bullet struck a family's double stroller, killing 7-month-old Kaori. The family initially heard loud noises, mistaking them for fireworks, before realizing they were gunshots.
Kaori's older brother jumped from the stroller. Lianna Charles Moore, 20, the children's mother, quickly picked up her son and turned left. At this moment, Kaori had collapsed in the stroller.

Security cameras recorded a suspect on the back of the motorcycle firing as the vehicle sped away. The two suspects then crashed into an oncoming car while fleeing through two blocks. The impact threw the gunman from the back of the motorcycle onto the street.
This individual was then taken to Brooklyn Hospital and identified as a suspect. The gunmen's target remains unclear. Investigative sources stated Kaori was not the target, but it is currently unknown if the perpetrators aimed at her parents.
"My daughter was innocent; she didn't deserve to die like that. We just went out to buy some things for the two children. Both of them could have lost their lives", Moore said, adding that her son was also grazed by a bullet on his back and kept asking about his sister. According to the family, baby Kaori had just learned to say "mama."
New York police are conducting a large-scale manhunt for the remaining suspect.
