This high-level multilateral foreign policy event, the first hosted by Vietnam since the 14th Party Congress, underscores the nation's independent, self-reliant, and peaceful foreign policy. It also projects an image of a reforming, developing, and deeply integrated Vietnam to the regional and international communities.
This marks the third consecutive year Vietnam has organized the ASEAN Future Forum, an initiative first announced at the 2023 ASEAN Summit. "We hope many ideas and initiatives will be proposed to contribute to ASEAN and regional cooperation, for the stability and development of both the region and the world," Deputy Minister Cuong said.
The opening session of AFF 2026 is expected to feature key leaders from the Party and State, alongside high-level leaders from several ASEAN member states. Plenary sessions will focus on ASEAN resilience and solidarity, promoting initiatives for conflict prevention and AI applications. On 10/6, delegates will discuss energy security and development models.
Doctor Nguyen Hung Son, Director of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, noted that AFF 2026 features unprecedented diverse participation, including businesses, academics, youth, civil society organizations, and citizen representatives.
