Wang Ranran, 24, residing in Tai'an city, Shandong province, registered her marriage with Zhang Xirui late last year after six years of dating. They eagerly planned their wedding for 25/4, booking a hotel and an emcee.
However, a medical treatment changed their lives forever. Wang had a sore throat, believing it was a common cold. She went with her fiance to a clinic near their home for treatment on 21/1.

Zhang recalled that two doctors were on duty. After a quick examination, a woman prescribed medication and gave Wang an injection. "They did not ask about her history of drug allergies, nor did they perform a skin test", Zhang said.
Minutes after the injection, Wang began to feel unwell. Her tongue stiffened, she vomited, and experienced difficulty breathing. Zhang immediately called for emergency services, but by the time paramedics arrived, Wang had fallen into a coma.
"During that time, the clinic's doctor panicked and did not perform any emergency first aid measures", Zhang stated.
Wang was rushed to the hospital. Doctors there diagnosed her with acute acidosis and respiratory failure, likely due to anaphylactic shock. Despite intensive treatment, Wang's brain lacked oxygen for over four minutes, resulting in irreversible damage.
Zhang accused the clinic of negligence. An investigation revealed that the person who gave Wang the injection was not a medical professional, and the doctor who signed the prescription did not possess a medical license. The clinic closed in early April, compensated Wang's family 30,000 USD, and then disappeared.
"My fiancee is still in a coma, but the hospital bills have exceeded 100,000 USD. We have to take turns caring for her, so no one can work. Life is incredibly difficult", Zhang shared.
After 92 days in a coma, Wang began to show signs of regaining consciousness. She opened her eyes and smiled at Zhang on 23/4, though she could not yet speak or move.
"Her beautiful eyes finally regained their sparkle", Zhang said. He whispered to his beloved, "As long as you put on your wedding dress, I will definitely be there to marry you".

The case is still undergoing trial, so the court has not yet issued a final verdict or determined the full amount of compensation the clinic must pay Wang's family.
The couple's story has garnered deep sympathy on Chinese social media.
"Ranran knew her wedding was just days away, so she woke up. Be strong, beautiful bride", one person commented.
"I hope authorities find those from the fleeing clinic. We cannot let these unethical individuals posing as doctors continue to harm others", another expressed.
