General secretary, president To Lam receives Cambodian national assembly president

General secretary, president To Lam urged the Vietnamese and Cambodian national assemblies to actively advance cooperation projects and coordinate policy issuance to facilitate bilateral relations.

Today, at Bac Bo Phu, Cambodian National Assembly President Khuon Sudary affirmed Cambodia's commitment to developing friendly, comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam. She stated that Vietnam's success is also Cambodia's success, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

President Khuon Sudary noted that the Cambodian National Assembly is closely coordinating with the Vietnamese National Assembly to actively implement high-level commitments and agreements between the two nations.

General Secretary, President To Lam affirmed Vietnam's consistent support for Cambodia's peaceful, stable, and prosperous development. He urged both national assemblies to actively advance cooperation programs and projects, coordinating research and policy issuance to facilitate bilateral relations.

Both sides underscored the strategic importance of the relationships among the two parties, two countries, and the three parties and three countries of Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos in the current context. This includes political trust, close cooperation in defense and security, economic integration, and strong people-to-people understanding.

The leaders also exchanged views on international and regional issues of mutual concern. They agreed to coordinate closely and support each other at regional and international forums, particularly within ASEAN and the Mekong Sub-region. General Secretary, President To Lam highlighted ASEAN's vital role and the importance of a peaceful, stable environment for all nations regionally and globally. He affirmed Vietnam's readiness to actively coordinate in ASEAN's collective efforts, contributing to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation, and development, while strengthening intra-bloc solidarity and ASEAN's centrality.

Later that afternoon, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung held a meeting with Cambodian National Assembly President Khuon Sudary. The two leaders agreed to enhance economic connectivity, focusing on areas like: transportation, infrastructure, telecommunications, and finance-banking. They also committed to refining new cooperation mechanisms to integrate the two economies more closely and to accelerate the connection of the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai and Bavet - Phnom Penh expressways.

Vietnam and Cambodia will expedite the revision and signing of new agreements to facilitate trade and border management. They will also coordinate in organizing events to commemorate 60 years of diplomatic relations.

In response to the Cambodian National Assembly President's call for increased cooperation in science and technology, innovation, and attracting Vietnamese investment, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung concurred that this represents a promising area for mutual complementarity. He also agreed to encourage Vietnamese businesses to expand their investments in Cambodia.
