Hezbollah is discussing president Trump's ceasefire proposal

Hezbollah's television channel reported that the group has received two US-backed ceasefire proposals with Israel and is discussing president Trump's plan.

Hezbollah received two US proposals aimed at ending hostilities with Israel, the group's Al Manar channel reported on 2/6. Hezbollah rejected the initial proposal from Secretary of State Marco Rubio. That plan called for Israel to halt attacks on Dahiyeh, a Hezbollah stronghold in Beirut, in exchange for the group ceasing its own assaults on Israel.

President Donald Trump subsequently presented a second offer: if Hezbollah ceased its attacks on Israel, Israel would refrain from targeting the Dahiyeh district for multiple days. This proposal, Al Manar stated, also sought a comprehensive ceasefire, effective after 48-72 hours, potentially extending across southern Lebanon.

Al Manar reported that Hezbollah is currently discussing President Trump's plan, though the outcome remains uncertain. This marks the first time Hezbollah has publicly acknowledged the ceasefire deal that President Trump referenced on 1/6.

A source indicated that Hezbollah is in discussions with the Lebanese government, stressing the necessity of "a comprehensive ceasefire."

Despite President Trump's announcement, Israel and Hezbollah have continued their hostilities. Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA) reported that Israel attacked approximately 30 sites across southern Lebanon on 2/6.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated they intercepted two airborne objects from Lebanon, resulting in no casualties. Hezbollah claimed responsibility for attacking Israeli soldiers in Lebanon, yet denied involvement in assaults targeting its neighbor.

The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah began on 2/3. Hostilities have intensified significantly in recent days, marked by the IDF's deepest offensive into Lebanon in two decades.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Hezbollah of consistently violating a ceasefire agreement that became effective on 17/4. He subsequently ordered attacks on Beirut's southern suburbs, a known stronghold of the group.

According to US news site Axios, President Trump pressured Prime Minister Netanyahu to concede, contending that the Israeli leader was jeopardizing US-Iran peace negotiations.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz later revealed that Israel had developed a new US-backed plan. Under this plan, the IDF would strike Beirut's suburbs if Hezbollah continued its attacks on Israel.

The Lebanese Health Ministry reported that 3,465 people in the country have died in attacks since early March. Israeli officials stated that 26 soldiers and one civilian contractor in Israel have also been killed.
