Iran claims 8 targets destroyed in retaliation against US

Iran's Revolutionary Guard announced it deployed ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles, destroying 8 US military targets in Kuwait and Bahrain on 28/6.

Iran's state television IRIB reported today that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated its 28/6 attacks retaliated against US airstrikes on coastal facilities in Sirik and Qeshm island. Targets included Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait and the US 5th Fleet headquarters in Bahrain.

The IRGC criticized the US attacks as a ceasefire violation, declaring, "the entire diplomatic process has been suspended." Its naval command warned that US military bases in the region "will experience hell in the coming days."

AMK Mapping, an X account tracking open-source intelligence on conflicts, reported that at least one Iranian ballistic missile struck Ali Al Salem military airport in Kuwait.

US Central Command (CENTCOM), overseeing US military operations in the Middle East, has not commented on the reports. However, one US official confirmed to Reuters that US military facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain were targeted in Iran's attacks, though no significant casualties or damage were reported.

Axios, citing informed sources today, reported that Tehran and Washington had agreed to "suspend hostilities" in the Gulf to resume negotiations on the Hormuz Strait. Iranian and US delegations are expected to meet in Qatar on 30/6 for further discussions.

The IRGC's attacks on US targets in the Middle East followed President Donald Trump's threat to resume military operations if Iran failed to comply with the conflict resolution agreement. He had also stated that Iran "would not exist" if the US continued its airstrike campaign.

About one hour after Trump's statement, Kuwait's military announced its air defense system intercepted two ballistic missiles and multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), with no damage or casualties reported.

Bahrain also activated alerts after detecting missile and UAV attacks. Officials reported damage to a residential building in Muharraq province, but no fatalities or injuries.

Jasem Mohamed al-Budaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), condemned the attacks on Bahrain and Kuwait. He stated these actions threaten regional security and violate international law and the United Nations Charter.

Qatar also criticized Iran's attack as an infringement on the sovereignty of Bahrain and Kuwait. It called on all parties to exercise restraint, continue dialogue, and uphold the results achieved from the memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the conflict.
