Iran reimposes restrictions on Hormuz Strait

Iran's military command announced a reversal of its decision to open the Hormuz Strait, citing the United States' continued blockade of its seaports.

Today, Iran's central military command announced that its armed forces are "strictly managing and controlling" the Hormuz Strait, reversing a decision from 17/4 to fully open it to commercial vessels.

In a statement broadcast on state television, the Iranian military said Washington had broken its commitment by continuing to blockade ships traveling to and from Iranian ports. They warned that Iran would tighten shipping operations through the strait until the United States ends its blockade.

US President Donald Trump announced on 17/4 that the United States' blockade of Iranian ports "remains in full effect" until Tehran reaches an agreement to end the conflict with Washington.
