British media reported on 7/9 that King Charles III authorized a senior royal official to send a letter on his behalf. The letter announced that Harry and Meghan would not be permitted to use their royal status after returning to live in England.

"In essence, their role is merely that of ordinary citizens engaging in commercial and charitable activities," the letter stated. It reaffirmed that any activities undertaken by Harry and Meghan would be personal in nature, not representative of the monarchy.

According to British royal sources, this notification letter was sent to Harry's team, the government, military, and local officials representing the monarchy.

The letter also stated, "It is widely known that in 1/2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex ceased to undertake duties representing the monarch and are no longer working royals."

Buckingham Palace has not commented further on the information. Harry and Meghan's family has also not commented on the matter.

Harry and Meghan last month brought their children back to England to begin living in the country. This move follows six years of leaving the royal family and moving to the US. The family is reportedly planning to stay in England "for a long time" at a non-royal residence in the Cotswolds region of central England.

After announcing their departure from the royal family, Harry and Meghan moved to the US in 2020. They have repeatedly clashed with the British royal family by revealing many "behind-the-scenes stories" of the family to the media.

In his 2023 memoir, Harry addressed disagreements with family members. He accused his brother William of physically assaulting him during an argument about Meghan. He also criticized King Charles's parenting style.

However, Harry said last year he wanted to reconcile with his father, who is battling cancer and undergoing treatment. In July, Harry and Meghan, along with their children, made a short visit to England. They had a private meeting with King Charles, the first time he had met Harry's children in four years.
