Lao national assembly president Xaysomphone Phomvihane passed away at 11:18 on 8/8, according to the Vietnam News Agency (TTXVN).
The Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the National Assembly, the Government, and the Lao Front for National Construction are organizing a five-day state funeral for National Assembly President Xaysomphone Phomvihane, from 9 to 13/8. The memorial service will be held on 13/8 at That Luang Square.
Vietnam's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man will lead a high-ranking delegation from the Party and State of Vietnam to pay respects to Lao National Assembly President Xaysomphone Phomvihane in Vientiane.

Born on 12/12/1956 in Nameo commune, Viengxay district, Houaphanh province, Xaysomphone Phomvihane held various leadership positions at the local level and across many sectors before assuming the role of Lao National Assembly President in 1/2021.
A statement from the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the National Assembly, the Government of Laos, and the Lao Front for National Construction emphasized that National Assembly President Xaysomphone Phomvihane was a knowledgeable, capable, insightful, and experienced leader with many outstanding achievements.
