On the morning of 30/5, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly visited the teachers and students of the Lac Hong Vietnamese language class. She expressed pride that amid Singapore's modern and busy pace, a Vietnamese language class exists for children, according to TTXVN.
She emphasized that this is more than just a class; it is a small home filled with love for the Vietnamese language, for the homeland, and a strong connection to their ethnic roots.
The Lac Hong class was recently established and primarily comprises students with one foreign parent, according to Mrs. Tran Thanh Phuong Nghi, spouse of the Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore. The class aims to create a space for interaction, preserve culture, and promote the teaching and learning of Vietnamese within the community.
In addition to sponsoring the Lac Hong class, the Vietnamese embassy in Singapore provides free Vietnamese language textbooks to families who wish to teach their children. Online Vietnamese language classes and activities to connect the younger generation are also encouraged.

Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly lauded the dedication of the teachers and urged parents to continue supporting the preservation of the mother tongue for their children. She highlighted that this is crucial for maintaining cultural identity and serves as a connecting thread between generations within families.
She donated a bookshelf containing 100 book titles, including Vietnamese and bilingual books on culture, history, and Vietnamese language learning materials, to the Lac Hong class.
Currently, approximately 34,000 Vietnamese individuals are studying, working, and living in Singapore, most of whom are intellectuals and young people. The majority have family and relatives residing in Vietnam, leading to a growing need to maintain their culture and mother tongue for their children, ensuring continued connection with family and homeland.
