North Korean central television aired the action film "Night and Day Confrontation" last month, media reported on 22/2. The movie, which premiered in Pyongyang last year, had its television debut.
The film portrays an attempted assassination of leader Kim Jong Il, father of Kim Jong Un. The plot involves detonating a train. This movie serves as a sequel to the 2022 production, "One Day, One Night", which focused on an assassination attempt against North Korean founder Kim Il Sung.

The two films reveal that the mastermind behind the plot against Kim Jong Il is the son of the person who attempted to assassinate Kim Il Sung. Both individuals are depicted as "anti-revolutionary elements".
South Korean media describe the action film as having Hollywood-style sequences, including train brawls, car chases, and explosions. They label the movie "an unprecedented work that addresses a taboo subject".
In 2024, another film, "72 Hours", was released, focusing on lessons from the Korean War. Kim Jong Un actively participated in its production, which includes action scenes and special effects. Sources indicate he contributed to scriptwriting and directed the acting.
