Party General Secretary, President to visit Russia, France

Party General Secretary, President To Lam and his spouse will visit Russia and France from 7/9 to 12/9.

Party General Secretary, President To Lam, accompanied by his spouse, will undertake a state visit to Russia, an official visit to France, and attend the Space Conference in Paris. The visits are at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin and French President Emmanuel Macron, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today.

Vietnam and Russia share a long-standing traditional relationship. The two countries established a strategic partnership in 2001, which was elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2012.

According to Vietnam Customs, bilateral trade turnover in 2025 reached USD 4.77 billion, an increase of 4% compared to 2024. Of this, Vietnam's exports amounted to nearly USD 2.3 billion, while imports from Russia exceeded USD 2.5 billion.

Vietnam and France became strategic partners in 2013 and comprehensive strategic partners in 10/2024. France is the first EU country to establish the highest level of relations with Vietnam.

Total bilateral trade turnover between Vietnam and France in 2025 reached approximately USD 6.3 billion, showing positive growth compared to 2024, according to data from Vietnam Customs.
