Permanent Member of Secretariat Tran Cam Tu departs for Singapore visit

Permanent Member of Secretariat Tran Cam Tu leaves Hanoi for official visit to Singapore, co-chairing the first Vietnam-Singapore Strategic Dialogue.

Permanent Member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu is undertaking an official visit to Singapore from 24-25/8, where he will also co-chair the first Vietnam-Singapore Strategic Dialogue. This trip, at the invitation of the Central Executive Committee of Singapore's People's Action Party, marks several significant milestones in bilateral relations.

This visit is the first official trip to Singapore by a Permanent Member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Furthermore, it inaugurates the Vietnam-Singapore Strategic Dialogue mechanism, which leaders of both nations agreed to establish during the state visit to Singapore by General Secretary and President To Lam in May. Vietnam is the first country in Southeast Asia to establish a similar dialogue mechanism with Singapore's People's Action Party.

The Vietnamese delegation includes Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Organization Commission Nguyen Duy Ngoc; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Commission Nguyen Thanh Nghi; Director of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Doan Minh Huan; Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung; Minister of Science and Technology Vu Hai Quan, and many other officials, according to the Vietnam News Agency (TTXVN).

Vietnam and Singapore established diplomatic relations in 1973, upgrading their ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2025. Bilateral trade turnover reached nearly 12 billion USD in 2025. Singapore is currently the second largest investor in Vietnam, with a total cumulative investment capital of nearly 100 billion USD.
