Poland has provided substantial support to Ukraine since the conflict's onset in 2/2022, accepting over one million refugees. Warsaw is also a main arms supplier to Kyiv, and the route through Poland serves as a crucial channel for Western military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
Beyond current aid, President Nawrocki has previously urged Kyiv to improve cooperation regarding the massacres of approximately 100,000 Poles in the Volhynia region. These atrocities, committed by Ukrainian nationalists between 1943 and 1945, are considered genocide by Nawrocki, who has accused Kyiv of refusing to take responsibility and delaying the exhumation of victims' remains.
On 18/12, President Zelensky expressed goodwill on these historical matters, affirming Ukraine's readiness to take concrete action, not just offer empty words.
