Prime Minister Le Minh Hung meets Russian President, UN Secretary-General at BRICS Summit

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung engaged with international leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, during his participation in the BRICS summit in India.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung held a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on 13/9, on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in India. The Prime Minister extended gratitude to President Putin, the Russian government, and its people for the warm reception during the state visit of General Secretary and President To Lam and his spouse, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He affirmed that the Vietnamese government would direct ministries and agencies to swiftly implement the key outcomes from that visit, translating them into specific cooperation programs.

President Putin expressed satisfaction with the results of General Secretary and President To Lam's visit. He conveyed confidence that the agreements reached would be effectively implemented, fostering the continued growth of the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership.

On the same day, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung also engaged in discussions with several other prominent international figures. These included Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, and World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

During these engagements, the Prime Minister focused on deepening Vietnam's relations with these nations and international partners across various sectors.

Leaders from these countries and international organizations voiced their appreciation for Vietnam's socio-economic development. They underscored the importance of their relationship with Vietnam and expressed a desire to enhance these ties to be more substantive and effective.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, alongside the Indonesian President, Philippine President, and Malaysian Prime Minister, agreed to maintain close coordination. Their joint efforts aim to contribute to the success of ASEAN Year 2026, which the Philippines will chair.

UN Secretary-General Guterres commended Vietnam's increasing role and standing on the global stage. He encouraged Vietnam to continue its active contributions to upholding multilateralism and addressing global challenges.

WHO Director-General Ghebreyesus lauded Vietnam's new policies for healthcare system development. He affirmed WHO's readiness to collaborate with Vietnam in achieving its healthcare and sustainable socio-economic development objectives.
