The US Department of Justice on 14/3 released surveillance video detailing a brazen robbery at Kumar Jewelers in Fremont, northern California, which took place in 6/2025. The footage exposed the audacious tactics of the criminal gang.
The surveillance footage depicts a convoy of cars pulling into the parking lot of the jewelry store. Subsequently, nearly 20 masked and hooded individuals swarmed inside, armed with crowbars and hammers to shatter the display cases.
Within a mere 70 seconds, the group made off with over three-quarters of the gold, diamond, and other jewelry on display, totaling more than 1.5 million USD.

Two gang members restrained a security guard, holding them hostage while the remaining robbers fled. The group then scattered in different vehicles, compelling police to pursue one car, allowing the others to escape.
Federal prosecutors, citing court records obtained by the East Bay Times, stated that officers opted to pursue a black Acura. The vehicle led police on a high-speed chase through Fremont's residential areas.
During the pursuit, the Acura repeatedly passed other vehicles in oncoming lanes, disregarded stop signs at intersections, and reached speeds exceeding 120 km/h, constantly weaving through traffic.
Following an accident, four male suspects, aged 19-20, abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but were apprehended. Authorities have not made further arrests in connection with the robbery.
Prosecutors suspect the Fremont robbery may be connected to another incident three months later in San Ramon, California, where approximately 1.5 million USD worth of jewelry was also stolen.
