"In my experience, people often make political attacks when they feel inferior", republican senator Ted Cruz told Politico on 4/10. He referred to comments from US vice president JD Vance, who suggested Cruz was campaigning two years early for the White House race. "He can make any comments he wants. I will continue to focus on the midterm elections and help the republican party win in the next 30 days", senator Cruz emphasized.

Vance's comments came two days before Cruz's statement. The US vice president commented on NBC that senator Cruz "is running for president right now", instead of trying to help republican candidates win the midterm elections in november.
Senator Cruz affirmed he has campaigned for party candidates in numerous states, including Georgia, Iowa, Nebraska, South Carolina, and Texas. He plans to visit Alaska, Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina to continue campaigning for candidates this month. Cruz stated, "Over the past 10 years, no republican senator nationwide has campaigned more for senate, house, and gubernatorial candidates than I have. This year is no exception."
Vice president Vance is seen as a potential candidate, even a frontrunner, for the 2028 republican presidential nomination. Senator Cruz previously ran for the party's presidential nomination in 2016 and is leaving open the possibility of another White House bid. Both are important politicians who could shape the future of the republican party after President Donald Trump concludes his second term.
In august, when MS NOW asked about the 2028 race, the Texas senator hinted he "would certainly be part of the discussion", but did not declare whether he planned to run. Cruz also suggested that vice president Vance does not have a firm grasp on the party's nomination ticket.
Among those Cruz has supported is the incumbent US vice president. He recalled spending a full day campaigning with Vance during his 2022 Ohio senate campaign, which Vance won that year. Vice president Vance is also actively campaigning for republican candidates, with consecutive events in Texas and Florida last week. He is scheduled to hold a rally in Alaska on 6/10.
