Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov announced today that Russia would continue to attack targets throughout Ukraine, following a drone strike on a train at a station just 2 km from the Polish border. When asked by AFP about the drone attack near the Ukraine-Poland border that occurred the day before, Peskov stated, "If I'm not mistaken, the incident occurred on Ukrainian territory." He emphasized that the Russian army "is carrying out missions across the entire territory of Ukraine and will continue to do so," though he did not comment directly on the targeted train.

The Kyiv-Warsaw train was attacked at Ukraine's Yagodyn station, approximately 2 km from the Polish border, on 13/9. No casualties were reported. Ukraine's railway company, Ukrzaliznytsia, reported that "security advisors from several European Union (EU) member states and former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson" were on the targeted train. Former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director David Petraeus was also present at Yagodyn station on a different train during the attack.

The Russian Ministry of Defense stated it targeted railway systems in western Ukraine "used to transport military supplies from European countries." These attacks on 13/9 also struck logistics centers, equipment distribution warehouses for the Ukrainian army, and energy facilities serving ports and logistics infrastructure. Russian forces are believed to have repeatedly targeted trains throughout the war, which has lasted over four years. Ukraine accuses these actions of being a campaign to cut off logistics lines and attack civilians, while Russia maintains these trains are transporting military supplies, equipment, and enemy personnel.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk warned that Russia would intensify attacks on enemy targets in the near future, risking paralyzing the border crossing between Ukraine and Poland. In today's press conference, Peskov also noted that the Kremlin welcomed US President Donald Trump's call for Ukraine to cease attacking Russia's diesel production facilities. The Kremlin spokesperson added that the leaders of China and India had discussed with President Vladimir Putin their readiness to assist in ending the Ukraine conflict, a proposal the Russian leader received positively.
