Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for Russia's foreign ministry, stated on 8/7 that NATO's priorities remain unchanged, including "the militarization of the European continent, focusing on building defense capabilities, preparing for an armed conflict with Russia, and providing aid to Ukraine".
"It is regrettable because if NATO strategists paused to think even for a moment, they probably would not have made such irresponsible decisions. These could lead to catastrophe not only for the alliance but for the entire world", Ms. Zakharova said.

In the joint statement issued by NATO members after this week's summit in Turkey, the alliance identified Russia as a "long-term threat" to the security and stability of the nations within the Euro-Atlantic community.
They pledged to provide 70 billion EUR (approximately 80 billion USD) to Ukraine by 2026 for procuring military equipment, providing aid, and implementing training programs. They stated they would support the nation with a similar amount in 2027. Ukraine's admission into the alliance was not mentioned.
NATO members reaffirmed their commitment to collective defense under Article 5, which states that any attack against one member of the bloc is considered an attack against the entire alliance, and NATO will respond collectively.
Additionally, the alliance announced arms agreements worth at least 50 billion USD.

Ms. Zakharova assessed that fissures between the United States and its NATO partners "have not disappeared" after the NATO summit.
"The issue concerning Greenland was not resolved according to the American scenario. They also felt resentment when alliance members did not take supportive action when the United States needed their backing", she said.
Meanwhile, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that disputes between US President Donald Trump and other NATO leaders demonstrate the alliance's democratic strength.
