"The Party, State, and people of Vietnam decided to provide emergency humanitarian aid of 300,000 USD to help the government and people of Venezuela overcome the consequences of the natural disaster and quickly stabilize the lives of residents in affected areas", the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today.
The aid follows a devastating double earthquake in Venezuela, which caused extensive damage and loss of life. This support underscores the long-standing friendship and mutual assistance between the people of Vietnam and Venezuela.

A 7,2 magnitude earthquake struck approximately 160 km west of Venezuela's capital, Caracas, on the evening of 24/6, with a hypocenter at a depth of 22 km. Less than one minute later, a second earthquake of 7,5 magnitude occurred a few kilometers away, with a hypocenter at a depth of 10 km. This was Venezuela's strongest earthquake since 1900.
As of 7/7, at least 3,685 people had died due to the earthquake.
27 countries dispatched support forces, and 40 international rescue teams are working to mitigate the aftermath.
On 28/6, Vietnam dispatched a rescue team comprising 124 officers and soldiers from the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security. They brought 10 working dogs and dozens of tons of goods to Venezuela to assist in earthquake recovery. This marks the third time since 2023 that Vietnam has sent military and public security forces for international rescue efforts, following aid missions to Turkey in 2023 and Myanmar in 2025.
According to the Vietnamese rescue team, Venezuela's interim president Delcy Rodriguez visited the camp on 3/7 to express gratitude and present a letter of thanks. She also awarded the Order of Merit to the Vietnamese working dogs involved in searching for earthquake victims.
