The Royal Thai Police announced on 7/8 that a 9th-grade male student stole his grandfather's handgun and shot his grandparents dead at their home in Bang Kruai district, Nonthaburi province. The suspect then took the gun to Debsirin Nonthaburi school and continued the shooting spree.
After killing three teachers and three students and injuring 15 people, the student barricaded himself on the third floor of the school. Dozens of armed police surrounded the school, while frantic parents rushed to pick up their children.

"I was so afraid I would die, afraid I wouldn't be able to pursue my dream", said Pawarisa Maylissa, a 12th-grade student hoping to pass the medical school entrance exam, outside the school. "I heard many loud gunshots, and I could even hear bullets hitting the floor".
An 18-year-old male student recounted that when he first heard the shots, he thought they were firecrackers. "At that moment, I didn't think they were gunshots. There were many continuous bangs. Then everything went silent, and the explosions started again", the student recalled.
When police entered, they found the shooter deceased at the scene. The suspect was identified as a student at Debsirin Nonthaburi school. The suspect's identity was not released.

Videos and images on social media showed students fleeing Debsirin Nonthaburi school, while injured individuals were taken to ambulances. School teachers embraced each other, weeping.
Thai officials urged the public not to livestream the incident and to stay away from the vicinity to avoid obstructing scene management operations.
Forensic police are examining the scene, inspecting the gun used in the attack, and taking statements from witnesses and those involved in the case. Investigators are also working to determine the suspect's motive for the shooting.

In February, a 17-year-old gunman stormed a school in Hat Yai district, Songkhla province, injuring many staff and students. The school principal later died from severe injuries, and police arrested the suspect.
In October 2022, a discharged police officer armed with a gun and knife attacked a child development center in Nong Bua Lam Phu province, killing 37 people, including 22 children.
