A fast-moving storm is set to impact New York City and the tri-state area, including New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, after Christmas. Weather conditions are expected to deteriorate from 3 PM on 26/12 until 10 AM on 27/12.
New York City could see 7,5 to 15 cm of snow. The Interstate 287 corridor, connecting New Jersey and New York, might receive up to 20 cm, according to Tyler Roys, a senior meteorologist at AccuWeather.

"Traffic will be impacted, starting with the afternoon rush hour on 26/12," Roys stated. Some areas of Long Island may also experience up to 20 cm of snow. Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn could see less snow than forecast.
Forecasters are monitoring whether the snowfall will combine with a winter storm, which could create more hazardous driving conditions in the city's western and southern parts.

Roys added that the light, powdery snow in most areas would not be ideal for children wanting to play outdoors.
The New York City Department of Sanitation announced its readiness for all storm response scenarios. City officials also advised residents to avoid driving during their commutes, recommending public transportation instead.
