On 6/12, former US President Donald Trump criticized CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins for questioning why the White House ballroom construction project was exceeding its initial cost estimates. "I explained that the room will be twice as large, and both the finish quality and interior furnishings are being elevated to the highest standards," he stated.
Trump affirmed that the completed ballroom would be substantially larger and more aesthetically pleasing than originally envisioned. He further clarified that the construction project "does not utilize taxpayer funds, with all expenses covered by private contributions."

The White House initially projected in July that the ballroom project would cost approximately USD 200 million. However, Trump later announced a revised figure of USD 300 million. By October, a White House official indicated the cost had further escalated to USD 350 million.
Despite Trump's previous assurances that the ballroom construction would not alter the White House's existing structure, the project drew controversy after the East Wing area was demolished in October.
According to Trump, the 8,300 square meter ballroom, designed to accommodate 1,000 guests, is intended for hosting state receptions and other significant events. The White House has disclosed a list of companies contributing to the project, including major corporations such as: Amazon, Apple, Google, and Meta. Trump also mentioned making a personal financial contribution.
