Ukraine's General Staff stated on 29/7 that an overnight strike hit the Ryazan oil refinery in Russia, located approximately 400 km from the Ukrainian border. The agency added that fires broke out within the facility's premises.
The Ryazan oil refinery, owned by Rosneft, produces gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, and other petroleum products. This facility has an annual capacity of about 17 million tons of oil and accounts for approximately 5% of Russia's total refining output.
The Ryazan refinery has been a frequent target in Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil infrastructure. A strike in May forced the facility to temporarily halt operations.
President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed on the same day that Ukrainian forces attacked an oil refinery and a logistics center in Ryazan province. Zelensky did not name specific targets, but sources indicated the logistics center was a warehouse belonging to the e-commerce group Wildberries.
Wildberries reportedly supplies various dual-use items that can be utilized on the battlefield, including bulletproof vests and fiber optic cables for drones. Following the attack, Wildberries announced "temporary restrictions" on access to its Ryazan warehouse.
Pavel Malkov, governor of Ryazan province, stated that 6 people were hospitalized after the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attack. He added that UAV debris caused fires at several unidentified "industrial facilities."
"Russia must feel that every day of this war will only bring an increasingly expensive price for them. We need to weaken the adversary and maintain pressure to shorten the time to end this war," Zelensky wrote on social media.

Ukraine's General Staff also announced attacks on a motorboat base near Mizhvodne in the Crimea peninsula and a Russian radar station near Pochep in Bryansk province on the same day.
In Donetsk province, Ukrainian forces attacked a site used for storing, preparing, and launching kamikaze drones, a logistics warehouse in Portivske, and a road bridge near Vyselky, which Russian forces used for military logistics purposes.
These new Ukrainian attacks occurred after Zelensky visited Washington on 28/7 for talks with President Donald Trump. This visit marked a new step to secure crucial aid from the US for the war against Russia. Zelensky said he had a "good meeting" with Trump.
"Much was discussed. The meeting went very well!" Trump wrote on Truth Social.
