The Peace Council today reached a historic agreement for the complete disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza. "This is a significant step towards lasting peace and security," President Donald Trump announced on social media on 30/7, adding that the disarmament process will unfold in "carefully planned stages."

President Trump stated that once disarmament is complete, Israeli forces will withdraw, and an International Stabilization Force will collaborate with Palestinian police to ensure the safety of Gaza residents. He thanked the mediating nations: Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey.

Trump wrote, "This agreement is an important step towards Gaza being governed by a new Palestinian government. This government will work closely with the Peace Council to assist the Palestinian people."

The US leader added that Israel's security would also be guaranteed, as the Gaza Strip would "no longer be used as a base for attacks."

A senior Hamas official told the AFP news agency that the armed group had reached an agreement with Israel on weapons, as well as Tel Aviv's gradual withdrawal of forces from Gaza. Hamas also expects the mediators and the Peace Council to ensure Israel adheres to the agreement.

The Peace Council is an agency initiated by Trump to end global conflicts.

The Egyptian government-linked Al-Qahera News channel reported that a meeting between the mediators for the Gaza ceasefire agreement, including the US, Qatar, and Turkey, will soon take place in Cairo. The timing of the meeting is unclear, but the parties will discuss implementing phase two of the Gaza ceasefire plan, a roadmap already agreed upon by Hamas and Palestinian factions.

According to President Trump's 20-point peace plan, the armed group Hamas will disarm in phase two, while Israeli forces will gradually withdraw from Gaza. The plan also stipulates that a Palestinian technocratic group, named the National Committee for Gaza Administration (NCAG), will assume daily operations during the post-conflict transitional phase.

An Israeli source previously told AFP that the proposed agreement "did not adequately address" Israel's demands.

"Israel demands the complete disarmament of Hamas, including the withdrawal of weapons from Gaza and the complete demilitarization of the strip. This is a prerequisite for any process," the source stated, adding that the Gaza issue was not mentioned during the meeting between President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on 28/7.

Hamas's disarmament is one of the main sticking points for implementing the ceasefire agreement, which is effective from October 2025, between the armed group controlling the Gaza Strip and Israel. Violence continues despite this agreement, with at least 4 people killed in Israeli attacks on 30/7.
