US Vice President JD Vance stated on June 16 that Iran would not receive any part of the $300 billion reconstruction fund unless the nation "completely transforms itself". He noted that while "many people say 'that's what Iran will get'," the detailed terms of the agreement stipulate otherwise.
Vance added that such a transformation in Iran would represent a significant victory for everyone, including the broader region. Conversely, if Tehran fails to implement these changes, it would have no impact on the United States.
"Iran stands to benefit if it fulfills its obligations," Vance stated, clarifying that the funds would not originate from the US. Instead, they could potentially come from Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), or Saudi Arabia. He emphasized, "the US will not transfer a single dollar to Iran."

The Vice President did not elaborate on what "complete transformation" entails for Iran. However, he suggested that should such a change occur, Gulf countries might be willing to invest in Iran, potentially funding projects like a power plant.
"The US position is that other nations are free to invest, provided Iran behaves appropriately," Vance stressed. "If Iran does not conduct itself properly, it will not receive any benefits from the agreement."
According to US officials, the reconstruction fund for Iran is to be financed by Gulf countries, with no contributions from Washington. US President Donald Trump previously dismissed reports of the US paying Iran $300 billion for reconstruction as "fake news circulated by Democrats."
The United States and Iran have reached a peace agreement, which will immediately cease military actions. The signing ceremony for the full document is scheduled for June 19 in Switzerland. While specific terms of the agreement have not yet been disclosed, Iran's Foreign Ministry indicated that the US has committed to war reparations and the unfreezing of Tehran's assets held abroad.
