Trump proposes reading Iran agreement to press

Trump commits to releasing the content of the agreement with Iran in the coming days and raises the possibility of reading the document "word for word" to the press.

President Donald Trump has indicated his willingness to publicly disclose the details of a recent agreement with Iran, stating he is awaiting an "official occasion" for the release. Speaking at a meeting with his United Arab Emirates (UAE) counterpart Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France on 16/6, Trump praised the document, saying, "I want a formal procedure before doing that, but I have no problem with it, it's a great document."

The agreement's central tenet, according to President Trump, is that "Iran will never possess nuclear weapons." He suggested holding a press conference to read the document "word for word" to ensure accurate reporting, promising its release within days. "Perhaps I will hold a press conference and read it to you word for word so that the press can report accurately, because this is a very important document", Trump said.

This development follows a memorandum of understanding reached by the US and Iran on 14/6, aimed at resolving the Middle East conflict. While President Trump electronically signed the document on the same day, its full content remains undisclosed to both the public and members of the US Congress.

The official signing ceremony for this agreement is scheduled for 19/6 in Switzerland. The country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the specific location as the Burgenstock resort on the mountainside. This luxury resort, situated above Lake Lucerne in central Switzerland, is difficult to access and surrounded by water on three sides, making security easy to ensure. According to the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the location was proposed by the US, Iran, and the two mediating countries, Qatar and Pakistan.

Concurrently with the signing, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also stated that a new round of negotiations between Iran and the US would likely begin on 19/6 to finalize the agreement. "In the final agreement, decisions will be made regarding the nuclear issue as well as the lifting of sanctions", he said.

High-level representatives from both nations are expected to attend the ceremony. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Ghalibaf will be present, and US Vice President JD Vance will represent the US, who stated that President Donald Trump might also be present.

A major economic consequence of the agreement, announced by President Trump on 15/6, is the complete lifting of Iran's blockade on the Strait of Hormuz, effective 19/6. This strait is a crucial shipping lane, handling approximately 20% of the global oil and gas supply, and its reopening is expected to significantly boost the world economy. "Ships are starting to move out of the Strait of Hormuz, many of them full of oil", he said.

Evidence of these changes is already emerging. Iranian state television confirmed that the country's oil tankers and other vessels have resumed operations. Deputy Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi stated that US sanctions on Iranian seaports were lifted prior to the official signing ceremony.
