During a regular press conference today, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Pham Thu Hang was asked to comment on the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom's (USCIRF) annual report and its recommendation to include Vietnam on the list of "countries of particular concern for religious freedom".
"Vietnam resolutely rejects the assessments presented in the 2026 annual report by the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom. These assessments are subjective, inaccurate, and based on malicious references targeting Vietnam," Hang said.

Vietnam affirms its consistent policy of respecting and ensuring human rights, including the right to freedom of belief and religion. This is clearly articulated in the 2013 Constitution, embedded within Vietnam's legal system, and upheld in practice.
No Vietnamese citizen faces discrimination based on religion or belief, and the activities of religious organizations are guaranteed in accordance with legal regulations.
"We are always ready to engage with the US on issues of mutual interest in a frank, open, and mutually respectful spirit, consistent with the comprehensive strategic partnership for peace, cooperation, and sustainable development between the two countries," spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated.
