During a meeting with US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer in New York City on the morning of 21/9, General Secretary, President To Lam affirmed Vietnam's commitment to the comprehensive strategic partnership with the US. Vietnam aims to work with President Donald Trump's administration to develop the relationship between the two countries in a stable and sustainable manner, according to *VNA*.

According to the General Secretary, President, economic, trade, and investment cooperation is one of the important pillars in the bilateral relationship. Vietnam has recently promoted the purchase of US goods to achieve a more balanced trade relationship, creating additional orders, jobs, and benefits for businesses and workers in both countries.

Ambassador Jamieson Greer praised Vietnam's efforts to balance bilateral trade, noting that both sides have negotiated, made significant progress, and are very close to a final result on the reciprocal trade agreement. The US Trade Representative believes the agreement will open new opportunities and possibilities for cooperation once signed and implemented.

The General Secretary, President welcomed both sides moving towards an early signing of the agreement and requested that the US adopt a comprehensive approach to outstanding trade issues, including investigations under section 301 of the US Trade Act of 1974.

The same day, the General Secretary, President also received a group of US House Representatives led by Mr. Gregory Meeks, senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

The General Secretary, President urged both sides to promote free, fair, balanced, and sustainable trade, and to expedite the completion of negotiations for the reciprocal trade agreement. Vietnam seeks to strengthen cooperation with the US in science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, and high-tech industries.

The General Secretary, President requested that the US Congress support cooperation in overcoming war consequences, defense and security, local cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges. He also asked them to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in the US to develop, make positive contributions to the host country, and become a bridge of friendship between the two nations.

Representative Meeks affirmed the importance of relations with Vietnam and parliamentary cooperation, expressing a desire to promote exchanges between the two countries' parliaments. This would contribute to the development of the comprehensive strategic partnership. He agreed with the proposals of the General Secretary, President, supporting the momentum of relationship development and leveraging the role of parliament in promoting bilateral cooperation.

The US side praised Vietnam's efforts in searching for, repatriating, and identifying the remains of US servicemen missing in action during the war. They committed to continuing support for Vietnam in overcoming war consequences, accompanying Vietnam in implementing the "500 Days and Nights" campaign to search for, repatriate, and identify Vietnamese martyrs whose information is still missing or who went missing during the war.

On the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, the General Secretary, President held a bilateral meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on 21/9. He stated that both sides need to strengthen cooperation and leverage their roles in promoting peace, stability, and sustainable development.

Both sides agreed to continue to strengthen political trust, aiming to soon upgrade Vietnam-Turkey relations to a new partnership framework, creating impetus for bilateral cooperation.

They also aim for a trade target of 4 billion USD, through Turkey recognizing Vietnam's market economy status, opening markets to each other, reducing trade barriers, and expanding cooperation in strategic, potential fields such as: defense industry, security, and other areas like Halal food, science, technology, logistics, and local cooperation.

Both sides agreed to strengthen consultation, coordination, and mutual support in multilateral forums. They will leverage their bridging role to promote cooperation, foster multilateralism, uphold international law, and maintain peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region.
