18 months to restore a Porsche 911 over 30 years old

The over 30-year-old sports car features a classic design while hiding impressive modern performance.

UK tuning firm Theon Design has comprehensively restored a Porsche 911 964 generation, originally produced between 1989 and 1994. While maintaining its refined classic appearance, the car conceals modern power: a 4-liter air-cooled engine producing 420 horsepower at 7,600 rpm and 439 Nm of torque, delivered to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The project began with disassembling the 911 964 generation's chassis. The body structure was then reinforced with welds, lightweight composite panels were installed, and the car received a Medium Ivory paint finish with Grand Prix white stripe accents, followed by a protective paint protection film (PPF) application.

Maintaining a refined classic appearance, the car conceals modern power.

A 4-liter air-cooled engine produces 420 horsepower at 7,600 rpm and 439 Nm of torque.

Thanks to ultralight carbon materials for the chassis and body, along with body shell reinforcement, this custom build reduces weight to 1,150 kg.

Recaro CS seats feature carbon lining, brown leather upholstery, and Ivory stitching matching the exterior.

Each car takes 18 months to complete.

The use of ultralight carbon materials for the chassis and body, combined with body shell reinforcement, helps this custom build achieve a reduced weight of 1,150 kg. With a power-to-weight ratio of approximately 0,366 horsepower/kg, this modified Porsche 911 surpasses the corresponding figure for the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS (approximately 0,35 horsepower/kg), an achievement few modern production cars can match.

On the track or winding roads, this custom 911 can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in under 4 seconds. This is an impressive figure for a classic car and sufficient to compete with modern supercars.

The interior of the modified Porsche 911 blends classic aesthetics with refined materials. It features Recaro CS seats with carbon lining, brown leather upholstery, and Ivory stitching that matches the exterior. The dashboard's original plastic switches have been entirely replaced with CNC aluminum components, complemented by a premium Focal sound system and Audison amplifier.

According to Theon Design, each similar custom build, made to individual order, costs approximately 420,000 GBP (about 530,000 USD) and takes around 18 months to complete.
