Following the release of the sedan version, the 2026 Toyota Corolla hatchback arrives with a retro-inspired special edition, upgraded safety technology and chassis, and slightly adjusted pricing.
Replacing the discontinued Nightshade edition is the new, limited-run FX Edition, a tribute to the 1980s Corolla FX16. Meanwhile, standard features across all trims have been improved, particularly in terms of safety.
The 2026 Corolla hatchback is available in SE, FX Edition, and XSE trims. Prices have increased slightly across the board. The base SE now starts at 24,180 USD, a 400 USD increase, while the top-tier XSE sees a modest 95 USD bump. The new FX Edition is priced at 26,780 USD, a 2,000 USD premium over the outgoing Nightshade.

Under the hood, everything remains the same. All Corolla hatchback trims feature a 2-liter, 4-cylinder engine producing 169 horsepower and 205 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a Dynamic Shift CVT, sending power to the front wheels.
The standard Corolla SE comes equipped with 16-inch wheels, an 8-inch infotainment display, a wireless charging pad, cloth seats, and a 6-speaker sound system. Additionally, the standard Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 package adds blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert.
The new FX Edition is limited to 1,600 units. Inspired by the 1987 Corolla FX16, this version embraces a classic style but doesn't include any performance or chassis upgrades to enhance the sportier look.
The car features gloss white 18-inch alloy wheels with black lug nuts. While the wheel design is similar to the previous Nightshade edition, the white finish gives it a sharper appearance. Additional exterior accents include a gloss black roof spoiler and a classic-style logo on the tailgate.
The FX comes standard with heated, 10-way power-adjustable Sport Touring driver's seat upholstered in black suede. For added flair, contrasting orange stitching is used on the seats, door trim, steering wheel, and gear shifter. The digital cockpit includes a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8-inch infotainment screen, similar to the top-of-the-line XSE. Blind spot monitoring is also included.
By standardizing key safety features and expanding connectivity, Toyota is raising the bar in the affordable compact hatchback market. The FX Edition celebrates heritage while affirming the Corolla Hatchback's place in the contemporary landscape. The car will go on sale in the US this fall.
