After several quiet months, Vietnam's A-segment car segment saw strong growth in october. Total sales reached 635 units, a nearly 75% increase compared to 366 units in september. This surge was primarily driven by Hyundai i10 and Toyota Wigo, two models that dominate the segment's market share.
Hyundai i10 maintained its leading position, selling 362 units in october. This represented a 61% increase from the 224 units sold the previous month. October also marked Hyundai i10's highest monthly sales since the beginning of the year, surpassing the 325 units sold in april.
Toyota Wigo also experienced strong growth, achieving 244 units. This was more than double the 110 units sold in september. It marked Wigo's second-highest sales volume since the beginning of the year, trailing only april's 295 units.
Meanwhile, Kia Morning maintained low sales, selling only 29 units in october. This was a slight decrease from 32 units the previous month. The model has shown almost no significant breakthroughs for several consecutive months, indicating declining appeal in an already shrinking segment.
Cumulatively over 10 months, Hyundai i10 led the segment with 2,617 units sold, far outstripping its two rivals. Toyota Wigo ranked second with 1,901 units, while Kia Morning recorded 247 units, the lowest in the group. Total segment sales reached 4,765 units after 10 months. The significant gap between i10 and the others suggests the model is almost certain to retain its position as the segment's best-seller for the entire year 2025 if its current momentum continues. Despite Wigo's good improvement, it is unlikely to overtake i10 due to the substantial cumulative sales difference.

October's performance indicates that purchasing power in the small car segment can still surge during periods of high demand or when automakers launch major promotions. However, the long-term outlook for the A-segment is not considered exceptional compared to other segments, as its market share remains heavily dependent on the i10 and Wigo models.
