Avatr's new factory produces a car every 60 seconds using 5G and AI

Avatr's smart digital factory opens with support from automotive and tech giants.

On 28/7, Avatr Technology launched its new smart digital factory, built in partnership with Changan Automobile, Huawei, China Unicom, and other major industry players. According to Auto-home, this fully digitized "super factory" utilizes 5G technology and artificial intelligence.

Avatr stated that the factory incorporates over 40 advanced technologies, including a digital twin system to optimize production processes. The factory boasts end-to-end digitization, with all tools and components connected via a unified 5G network, enabling real-time data tracking and transparency from order placement to vehicle completion.

The fully automated production line outputs a car every 60 seconds (average time, not total assembly time). The factory supports the production of various models and can fulfill 1,280 different personalized orders for diverse powertrains—even for different brands.

Avatr's 60-second production rate surpasses even Xiaomi's electric vehicle factory. In 2024, Xiaomi showcased its factory's automation, claiming to be the only Chinese automaker using two proprietary technologies: die-cast alloy material technology and a large mold equipment system. This technology reduces the number of parts, welds, and overall production time, achieving an average output rate of one car every 76 seconds.

Avatr's factory includes 369 monitoring systems and 26 quality control gates, enhanced by AI-powered visual inspection across 25 scenarios and 73 workstations.

In its announcement, Avatr confirmed the upcoming launch of a new flagship SUV, co-developed with Huawei. This model is expected to be central to Avatr's future product lineup.

By 2030, Avatr plans to introduce 17 new models, including sedans, SUVs, MPVs, and sports cars. The company aims for annual global sales of 800,000 vehicles.

In 2024, Avatr sold 73,000 vehicles, more than double its 2023 sales. During the first half of 2025, the brand has seen continuous year-over-year growth, exceeding 10,000 deliveries per month for four consecutive months.

Avatr is also expanding internationally. In 2024, the company entered 25 countries and regions, including Thailand and Dubai. Models sold abroad are priced between 69,800 and 97,700 USD.

This July, the company signed distribution agreements with dealerships in Jordan and Egypt. The Avatr 11 also launched in Singapore, marking another step in the brand's global strategy.

Avatr is a premium electric vehicle brand under a joint venture between Changan Automobile and battery manufacturer CATL, established in 2018, with technological support from Huawei. Avatr has a design center in Munich, Germany. Currently, the company offers five models, each available in two versions: fully electric and range-extended hybrid (REEV).
