While the French automaker has embraced a new era with the V16 hybrid engine in its Tourbillon model, it's not ready to retire the legendary W16. The latest creation, the Brouillard, continues the legacy with its 8-liter, quad-turbocharged W16 engine, based on the Chiron platform.
The Brouillard, meaning "fog" in French, is also named after founder Ettore Bugatti's favorite horse. This unique vehicle is the first product of Bugatti's Programme Solitaire personalization program. It belongs to Dutch entrepreneur Michel Perridon, owner of the world's largest Bugatti collection.

A crystal horse head sculpture, crafted in the style of Rembrandt Bugatti, is housed in the aluminum gear lever.
A blend of traditional engineering and handcraftsmanship, the Brouillard shares similarities with the open-top W16 Mistral but introduces subtle changes. It sports a front fascia with a wide horseshoe grille and the traditional macaron logo. Tiered LED headlights combine with aerodynamic air intakes, complemented by a carbon fiber front splitter with two air vents. The car's profile showcases the signature C-shape and carbon fiber side skirts contrasting against the green paintwork.
The rear has been redesigned, featuring X-shaped LED taillights inspired by the W16 Mistral but with a stylized logo. The exhaust system is taken from the Chiron Super Sport. Roof-mounted air intakes and an integrated active rear wing enhance downforce and visual appeal.
The cabin retains the Chiron's overall layout but boasts personalized details and materials. The green theme echoes the exterior, featuring custom-woven tartan from Paris, green carbon fiber, leather, and machined aluminum.
A standout feature is the crystal horse head sculpture in the aluminum gear lever, crafted in the style of Rembrandt Bugatti. Horse motifs embroidered on the door panels and seatbacks emphasize the edition and the horse's significance.
Built upon the Chiron's carbon fiber and aluminum chassis, the Brouillard retains the 8-liter, quad-turbocharged W16 engine producing 1,600 hp. Power is delivered through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.
Bugatti states the Brouillard marks the beginning of the Programme Solitaire, elevating personalization beyond the current Bugatti Sur Mesure program. This new program aims to create one-of-a-kind vehicles for a select few who appreciate the brand's values.
Bugatti will create a maximum of two "masterpieces" annually, ensuring each receives due attention and celebrates handcraftsmanship. These unique cars will utilize existing Bugatti powertrains and chassis, staying true to the brand's coachbuilding heritage.
The Bugatti Brouillard is expected to be showcased at Monterey Car Week 2025, with the price undisclosed.
