C-segment sedan sales slump to the level of A-segment cars

C-segment sedan sales in the first half of 2025 reached 2,942 vehicles, mirroring the 2,926 vehicles sold in the A-segment during the same period.

In June, C-segment sedan sales decreased by 10% compared to the previous month. Only 424 vehicles were delivered to customers. Most models experienced similar declines in sales, with only one model showing an increase, leaving the rankings unchanged.

The Japanese-Korean duo assembled and distributed by Thaco continued to lead sales in June. Mazda3 sold 184 vehicles, a 10.7% decrease, while Kia K3 sold 116 vehicles, down 12.8%. Together, these two models captured 70% of the market share for the month.

Sales of the remaining models remained in the double digits. Hyundai Elantra sold 51 vehicles (a 12.1% decrease), and Honda Civic sold 47 vehicles (down 7.5%). Toyota Corolla Altis trailed with 24 vehicles sold, but it was the only model to see an increase in sales during the month, with a 14.3% rise.

Total sales for the C-segment in the first half of 2025 reached 2,942 vehicles, a significant 45% drop compared to the same period last year. This figure matches the sales of the A-segment (2,926 vehicles), indicating a clear decline in the C-segment's popularity in the Vietnamese market.

The C-segment also experienced a significant polarization. Over 70% of the market share in the past six months belonged to the Mazda3 and Kia K3. The remaining 30% was divided among the Elantra, Civic, and Corolla Altis. The Elantra and Civic are closely competing, with sales figures exceeding 3,000 units each, while the Corolla Altis lags significantly behind with only 139 vehicles sold.
