Floodwaters on Luong Ngoc Quyen street rose above the headlights of a sedan. Despite warnings and roadblocks from authorities, the driver proceeded into the deep water. The car stalled shortly after, and the current swept it toward the sidewalk. According to the video source, the vehicle remained submerged from after 10 PM until 3 AM the following day before being towed away.
When encountering flooded areas, it is difficult to determine a safe water level. It is always best to stop, especially when authorities have established roadblocks, as seen in the video. Driving through deep water puts the driver and any passengers at risk. Furthermore, water damage to a vehicle can be extensive and costly.
Even if a car successfully navigates a flooded area, there can be long-term consequences. Water can contaminate engine oil, damage undercarriage components, and ruin the interior. If water reaches the hood, the risk of hydrolock, where water enters the engine, is substantial.
