On 1/5, a vehicle with a dashcam traveling on a mountain pass section of National Highway 4C was repeatedly forced to brake suddenly and swerve right to avoid motorcycles, motorbikes, and cars encroaching on its lane. This dangerous situation persisted for two hours, though fortunately, no accidents occurred.
Drivers must adhere to traffic laws and only overtake when it is safe, particularly on narrow and steep mountain roads. Overtaking is strictly prohibited when forward visibility is obstructed.
According to Decree 168/2024, drivers of cars caught overtaking in no-overtaking zones face fines of 4-6 million VND and a deduction of 2 points from their driver's license. If such an action results in an accident, the penalty increases to 20-22 million VND and a deduction of 10 license points. For motorcyclists, overtaking in prohibited areas incurs a fine of 800,000-1,000,000 VND. If an accident occurs, the fine ranges from 10-14 million VND, along with a 10-point deduction from their license.
