Changan is now under the direct management of the Chinese government, overseen by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC). This places the group on the same administrative level as other major automakers like FAW and Dongfeng.
The company was officially registered on 27/7 with registered capital of 20 billion yuan (approximately 2.75 billion USD). Zhu Huarong, the current chairman of Changan Automobile, is listed as the legal representative and is expected to play a key leadership role. The company is headquartered in Chongqing.
