On 25/6, during the Maextro brand event under the HIMA alliance, the Maextro S800 Grand Design, the first luxury vehicle from the premium Grand Design collection, officially launched with prices starting from 1.388 million yuan (191,000 USD).
This special edition sedan features an exterior with gold-plated accents and is equipped with Huawei's latest driver assistance system. It boasts an axially symmetrical design and a glowing golden geometric logo. The exterior finish utilizes a complex 7C5B painting process (7 layers of paint, 5 drying cycles) to ensure maximum depth and shine.
A prominent side feature is a 4.5 m long, 3 mm wide golden coachline, narrowing to just 0.5 mm at its thinnest point. The cast wheels undergo 10 processes and 16 hours of meticulous polishing. Additionally, the Grand Design logo is visible on the rear, door sills, and interior rotary knobs.
Mounted on the roof is an 896-line lidar sensor, integrating wide-angle and telephoto lenses. This allows for stable detection of small obstacles, as low as 14 cm, from a distance of 120 m.
A unique feature is the lidar system's integrated spray nozzle and wiper, a first in the automotive industry. It automatically detects dirt and activates a smart cleaning mode. For vehicles using advanced driver assistance systems, lidar is considered the "all-seeing eye," as this sensor system dictates all subsequent vehicle responses.
The interior design continues a serene, natural aesthetic with surrounding wood tones. The real wood-trimmed steering wheel integrates hands-on detection sensors, supporting advanced driving features. The central armrest area features a new crystal rotary knob and a wing-shaped gear selector cover, embroidered with the Maextro lettering. The entire cabin boasts 18 natural wood trim locations. The wood inlays are shaped according to the brand logo, offering four personalized patterns: Dragon, Tiger, Horse, and Ox.
The seats feature a T-shaped grain structure combined with woven patterns, undergoing over 20 meticulous hand-weaving processes. They are complemented by natural sheep wool floor mats. The hand-embroidered shoulder rests use premium leather with a total of 270,000 stitches and a stitch density of just 0.35 mm.
The S800 Grand Design is equipped with the Huawei Sound Ultimate audio system, featuring a total of 43 speakers throughout the cabin. This system can automatically calibrate independent sound fields for each passenger based on changes in the spatial structure.

This new vehicle also debuts the next-generation HarmonyOS ALPS health ecosystem, centered on a super-porous MOF adsorption-decomposition material. This material has a more ordered molecular arrangement, significantly enhancing its ability to trap pollutants.
The S800 Grand Design uses double-layered polyvinyl butyral laminated glass for enhanced sound insulation, covering the entire windshield, four doors, and rear triangle windows. The total area of sound-absorbing material in the car exceeds 21 m² and weighs over 40 kg, combined with active road noise cancellation technology. The smart privacy glass has a response time of less than 1 second and a light-blocking ratio of up to 99.6%.
The S800 Grand Design offers two powertrain options: a battery electric vehicle (BEV) or an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) system. The BEV version features two electric motors, all-wheel drive, a total output of 523 horsepower, and a 97 kWh battery pack. The EREV version combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with three electric motors and a 63 kWh battery pack.
After 13 months since its launch, the Maextro S800 has achieved cumulative sales of 19,000 units. It has also maintained its position as the top-selling large luxury vehicle priced over one million yuan in China for nine consecutive months. The new Grand Design collection represents the brand's next step, aiming to establish a distinct standard of luxury rather than reiterating old values.
