Following the Wrangler, the Jeep Cherokee is the next model from the American brand to enter the Vietnamese market. Thaco, the confirmed distributor, has not yet specified the exact launch timeline or how many versions will be available.
The current Jeep Cherokee, belonging to the 6th generation, measures 4.775 x 1.897 x 1.714 mm (length x width x height), with a wheelbase of 2.870 mm. In the US market, this Jeep model is positioned to compete with C-segment CUVs such as the Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5, and Toyota RAV4. Despite its C-segment classification, the Cherokee boasts superior dimensions across all metrics, with its wheelbase extending into the D-segment.
While the Cherokee's overall length surpasses typical C-segment vehicles, it is still shorter than D-segment models. For instance, the Ford Everest measures 4.914 x 1.923 x 1.842 mm. However, when considering wheelbase, the Cherokee is larger than the Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe (both 2.815 mm) but smaller than the Ford Everest (2.900 mm) and Mazda CX-8 (2.930 mm). In the US, Jeep also offers a larger three-row vehicle, the Grand Cherokee, which is positioned above the Cherokee.

Compared to the rugged Wrangler, an SUV priced from 3 billion VND and positioned as a niche "play car" for a small customer segment, the Cherokee features a more urban design, making it accessible to a broader audience. Like other vehicles from the same brand, the Cherokee leans towards off-road capability, thanks to its sporty design and four-wheel-drive configuration.
The Jeep Cherokee boasts a robust exterior. Its LED headlights connect seamlessly to the distinctive 7-slot vertical grille, a signature of the American brand. The rear end features a notably square design.
In the US, the standard Cherokee variant uses 17-inch wheels. Higher trims offer optional 18-inch or 20-inch wheels. The vehicle is equipped with a MacPherson front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension system.
The interior of Jeep's C-segment SUV prioritizes practicality and optimized spaciousness rather than overtly flashy technology. This American model is equipped with a 12,3-inch central infotainment screen, complemented by a 10,25-inch digital display positioned behind the steering wheel. It also features dual-zone automatic climate control for enhanced comfort.

The vehicle employs a rotary shifter for gear selection. The center console, which separates the driver and passenger, is designed with a flattened surface. The standard version features fabric-upholstered seats, while higher trims come with leather upholstery.
Regarding its powertrain, the Jeep Cherokee in the US is equipped with a hybrid gasoline engine. This system combines a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with two electric motors, delivering a total output of 210 horsepower and 312 Nm of torque. It features a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and all-wheel drive (AWD) with the ability to disconnect the rear axle for improved fuel economy during city driving.
In the US, the Cherokee is sold in a total of 5 versions, with prices starting from 35.000 USD. The vehicle is currently manufactured at the Stellantis group's factory in Mexico.
