Car drives wrong way near expressway median

A dashcam-equipped car, traveling in a lane with a maximum speed limit of 100 km/h, unexpectedly had to change lanes to avoid a vehicle driving in the wrong direction.

A wrong-way driving incident occurred on the Hanoi - Lao Cai expressway on 28/6. A dashcam-equipped car, traveling at speed near the median, was forced to swerve to avoid an oncoming vehicle near the Cam Khe exit. Fortunately, clear weather and good visibility prevented a collision.

Driving the wrong way on an expressway is strictly prohibited due to the high speeds of other vehicles, making it extremely difficult for drivers to react to unexpected situations. If a driver misses an exit, they must continue to the next available exit rather than turning around and driving against traffic.

Under Decree 168/2024, drivers caught traveling the wrong way on an expressway face fines ranging from 30 to 40 million dong and a deduction of 10 points from their driving license.
