Chinese automakers are rapidly advancing vehicle suspension technology, with both Li Auto and BYD recently showcasing innovations that allow vehicles to automatically raise and lower their chassis. This development aims to enhance off-road capabilities, simplify maintenance, and improve overall driving dynamics.
On 25/4, at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, Li Auto introduced the chassis technology of its next-generation L9, specifically the L9 Livis version. This system allows individual wheel height adjustment, completing a raise or lower in just 5 seconds.

The Li L9 Livis infotainment system offers "tire change" and "chassis lift" modes with a single touch, preventing accidental operations that could damage suspension components.
BYD followed suit on 13/5, holding a press conference to launch its upgraded Denza B5/B8 Flash-Charge model, featuring the YunNian-P Ultra suspension system, priced from 43,900 USD in China. Denza serves as the international market name for products under BYD's Fangchengbao brand.
Immediately after BYD's launch, social media was flooded with videos showcasing the SUV's performance as it automatically lifted its chassis to escape mud on sand or cross deep potholes.

According to Autohome, the upgraded SUV model incorporates a new-generation hydraulic body control system, replacing the previous single-valve damping structure with a dual-valve configuration and offering three-level stiffness adjustment with road prediction functionality.
This system can automatically lift a single wheel up to 300 mm, supports a three-wheel drive mode, and provides up to 200 mm of shock absorber travel adjustment. BYD states the hydraulic system has a maximum lifting capacity of 9 tons.
In addition to the suspension system, this SUV is equipped with BYD’s God’s Eye B driver assistance system, which includes: one LiDAR sensor, three millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and 11 cameras. Its functions include: city navigation assistance, highway navigation assistance, and automated parking.
Previously, the Denza B5 was involved in a notable legal case earlier this year, after BYD won a defamation lawsuit concerning claims about the vehicle's fuel consumption.
