VinFast announced its April sales reached 24.774 vehicles, capturing nearly 41% of the total industry market share (60.615 vehicles). Total industry sales comprised 31.937 vehicles from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers' Association (VAMA), 3.904 from Hyundai, and the remainder from VinFast.
The 41% market share marks VinFast's highest monthly share since the company began reporting sales in Vietnam. The Vietnamese automaker's market share in previous months was 27,4% in January, 30,7% in February, and 39% in March. VinFast is just 9 percentage points away from capturing half of the market.

Among the market's top 10 best-selling models, VinFast accounts for 5 products: the VF 3, VF 5, VF 6, Limo Green, and VF MPV 7. All of these models lead their respective segments in sales. The remaining models include the Toyota Veloz, Yaris Cross, Mitsubishi Xforce, Xpander, and Mazda CX-5.
VinFast's sales slowed in April, with volumes decreasing by about 10,3% compared to March. However, cumulative sales still show an increase over the same period in 2025. After 4 months, VinFast's sales reached 78.458 vehicles, a 77% increase.
Sales for VAMA and Hyundai also saw a slight decrease in April compared to March. However, cumulative figures for both show considerable growth compared to 2025. VAMA members sold 126.794 vehicles, a 25% increase over the first 4 months of 2025. Hyundai sold 17.402 vehicles, a 9% increase.
Industry experts state that the market slowdown in April is not unusual and has been observed in previous years. Many companies conclude their fiscal year at the end of March, leading to intensified sales efforts that month and increased competition from other brands. Vehicle supply also tends to be limited immediately afterward due to reliance on existing inventory, especially for companies with vehicles manufactured in the prior year. Numerous promotional programs in March stimulate purchasing power but also lead to a subsequent dip in demand.
Total sales for Vietnam's automotive industry through April reached 222.654 vehicles, a 37% increase compared to the same period in 2025. VinFast remains the driving force behind this market growth, with sales doubling. VinFast leads in market share, accounting for approximately 35% of the entire industry.
Following VinFast are two familiar brands: Toyota and Hyundai. The Japanese automaker sold 23.263 vehicles in the first 4 months of 2026, a 34% increase compared to the same period in 2025, capturing about 10,4% of the total market share. The Korean automaker sold 17.402 vehicles, a 9% increase over the same period in 2025, with a market share of 7,8%.
