The incident involved three young people, appearing to be students, crossing a road without a designated crosswalk. At that moment, another young man, riding a motorcycle at high speed and not wearing a helmet, approached. A girl in a blue shirt attempted to pull her two friends back, but the boy wearing a backpack suddenly jumped forward to the other side of the road. However, due to the short distance, a collision occurred. The motorcycle struck the pedestrian, sending both crashing towards a parked car. The extent of injuries is currently unknown.
Regarding driving skills: In residential areas, drivers must adhere to posted speed limits and avoid reckless speeding. Motorcyclists are legally required to wear helmets. According to Decree 168/2024 on road traffic violation penalties, offenses such as motorcycle speeding, failure to observe and reduce speed, or not maintaining a safe distance leading to an accident, incur fines of 10-14 million VND and a deduction of 10 license points.
Additionally, pedestrians should cross the road at designated crosswalks. If there is no crosswalk, it is crucial to observe both sides of the road for any unexpected situations. When encountering a fast-approaching vehicle, as seen in the video, avoid rushing forward or stepping backward, as both actions could lead to collision risks with other vehicles. Maintaining one's position also helps the driver assess the situation and react appropriately. For instance, in this particular case, if the young man had not jumped forward, he might have avoided the accident.
