Mazda's largest SUV, the CX-90, is priced at VND 2.479 billion and imported from Japan. It will be available in a single Signature AWD 7S variant, utilizing a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) engine. Customers can choose from 9 exterior paint colors and two interior colors. This marks Mazda's first significant entry into the large family SUV segment in Vietnam, with pricing nearing the luxury vehicle class, a departure from its long-standing focus on mainstream models.

Chassis and Powertrain
The CX-90 is built on a new chassis platform, completely different from the CX-5 or CX-8. It is the largest Mazda model currently sold in Vietnam, boasting a wheelbase of 3,120 mm, significantly larger than the CX-8 (2,930 mm), which previously held the top position in the automaker's SUV lineup. Overall dimensions are 5,100 mm (length) x 1,994 mm (width) x 1,736 mm (height), positioning the CX-90 as a large SUV that surpasses most E-segment models. Within Mazda's product portfolio, the CX-90 is the flagship model in terms of both size and price, positioned above the CX-60 and CX-8.
The variant distributed in Vietnam uses a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain, combining a 2,5-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor for a total output of 323 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. The vehicle is equipped with a 17,8 kWh battery, providing an all-electric range of about 43 km. It comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission, all-wheel drive, and 5 driving modes, including an off-road mode.
The CX-90 allows AC charging at two voltage levels: a 110-120V household outlet, taking about 11 hours for a full charge; or a 240V source, reducing charging time to about 1,5-2,5 hours. However, the vehicle does not support DC fast charging.
Exterior
On the exterior, the CX-90 utilizes the familiar Kodo design language, refined for a more imposing and premium feel. The front fascia features a prominent chrome-framed grille, paired with extended air intakes and vents below, creating a robust appearance. Sharp LED headlights and taillights complete the look.
The vehicle is equipped with 21-inch alloy wheels and a ground clearance of 205 mm, making it suitable for various road conditions.
Interior
The interior cabin boasts a "near-luxury" and practical style. Seats are upholstered in white or black Nappa leather, with the second row featuring separate captain's chairs. The audio system is a 12-speaker Bose unit. Other convenience features include a 12,3-inch digital driver display, a 12,3-inch infotainment screen, a head-up display, wireless charging, heated and ventilated front seats, second-row air conditioning, third-row air vents, and a panoramic sunroof.

Safety
The CX-90 is equipped with the latest active safety features from Mazda, including: blind spot monitoring, front and rear cross traffic alert, lane keep assist and lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, driver monitoring, distraction mitigation system, smart braking support (front and rear), a 360-degree camera, and automatic high beams.
Competition
With a price of approximately VND 2,5 billion, the CX-90's direct competitors in the Vietnamese market include the Lynk & Co 09 (VND 2,199 billion), Volkswagen Teramont Pro (VND 2,799 billion), and Volkswagen Teramont Pro Max (VND 2,888 billion), which debuted last week. Other E-segment SUVs, such as the Hyundai Palisade (VND 1,469-1,589 billion) and VinFast VF 9 (VND 1,499-1,699 billion), are priced lower than the Japanese model. However, the CX-90 is one of the few models in its segment to feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
