A fatal traffic incident occurred at the Dien Bien Phu intersection (Nam Phuoc T-junction) on 16/4. As the traffic light turned green, a motorbike rider moved from the right lane, near the sidewalk, to the left lane, adjacent to the median, intending to make a left turn. However, instead of continuing his turn, the man abruptly slowed his motorbike. At that moment, a truck, which was proceeding straight through the green light, subsequently ran over the man, causing his immediate death.
This tragic event highlights the critical danger of truck blind spots, which are extensive and render the area directly in front of the vehicle completely invisible to the driver. Consequently, any individual appearing in this zone while a truck is in motion faces a very high risk of an accident. To prevent such incidents, all road users must exercise extreme caution and observe their surroundings thoroughly before changing lanes or directions. This includes diligently checking rearview mirrors, turning one's head to scan both sides, activating turn signals to alert following vehicles, reducing speed, and maintaining a safe following distance. When executing a left turn, it is imperative to change lanes correctly and progressively, moving one lane at a time rather than making sudden, sharp cuts. Crucially, never attempt to turn directly in front of a truck or any other large vehicle.
