The B-segment CUV category experienced a booming March, with strong sales growth across all products compared to February. Among them, the Toyota Yaris Cross and VinFast VF 6 were the two most attractive models to customers.
The announcement by VinFast in mid-February, extending free charging until the end of 2/2029, provided a significant sales boost for the VF 6. Sales of this model in March tripled compared to the previous month. The VF 6's sales of over 3,100 units surpassed all rivals.
While the VF 6 dominated the entire segment, the Yaris Cross reclaimed its top position after two months of being overtaken by competitors. Toyota's model saw its sales increase nearly fourfold, reaching over 2,300 units sold in March. A stable supply, coupled with a 50% registration fee incentive for two versions, helped the Yaris Cross regain its growth momentum.

Following the Yaris Cross closely is the Mitsubishi Xforce. Similar to the Destinator, the Xforce's supply is not abundant, with some models lacking immediate delivery, which has prevented sales from meeting expectations.
The Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta duo continue to lag behind. Their advantage in price and features has diminished as Japanese cars become more competitive, leaving Korean models struggling to regain their standing. The slowest-selling models in the segment remain the Honda HR-V and Mazda CX-3.
Overall Vietnamese demand for B-segment high-riding vehicles continues to grow. After Quarter I, sales reached 20,477 units, a 62% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Excluding electric vehicles (VF 6 sales), total segment sales were 13,798 units, showing a similar increase.
Among the segment's models, only the HR-V and CX-3 experienced negative cumulative sales growth after the first three months of 2026, declining by 13% and 58% respectively. The Honda model faces obstacles due to its segment-leading high price. Mazda's product has been slow to update its design and features, and its dimensions are also less competitive than its rivals.
