A swerve saves a pedestrian's life at night

On an unlit national highway, a driver was momentarily blinded by oncoming car headlights just as a pedestrian crossed the road, on 16/4 in Phung Khac.

The incident unfolded on 16/4 on National Highway 389B in Phung Khac, an area devoid of streetlights. A driver, whose vehicle was equipped with a dashcam, was traveling at over 80 km/h when oncoming car headlights temporarily blinded them. In that critical instant, a pedestrian unexpectedly appeared, crossing the highway. Despite the suddenness, the driver reacted swiftly, executing a quick swerve that narrowly avoided a collision.

This incident highlights crucial road safety considerations for both pedestrians and drivers. Pedestrians should exercise extreme caution and avoid crossing roads indiscriminately, especially on national highways where vehicles travel at high speeds and visibility is often poor at night. Such conditions pose significant safety risks to themselves and other road users. Similarly, drivers must adhere to speed limits and avoid reckless driving at night, anticipating any unexpected situations. A sudden change in the brightness of oncoming headlights can signal an unforeseen circumstance ahead, prompting drivers to be prepared to lightly apply the brakes.
